There are a number of voluntary organizations, generally termed NGOs with persons dedicating themselves to the service of the deprived - from children to the aged and the disabled, providing relief in the form of free Education, medical care, rehabilitation with nutritional food, to give a child the gift of true childhood, to the girl child abandoned by her mother, the gift of life itself, to the girls rescued from the hands of the flesh traders, a normal livelihood with social skills, to the aged and infirm- a betterment in the quality of life. And there are individuals who, with an impulsiveness and selflessness spend their life for this cause. However, these persons or organisations can continue in this endeavour only on the generosity of others. No doubt there are a few NGOs who make hay when the sun shines when millions in cash sometimes pours in towards relief work during natural calamities like the tsunami or earthquake.
